The programme aims to strengthen the professional knowledge and competencies needed for middle and higher-level positions in various libraries and resources centres in both the public and corporate sectors, with an offering of courses that range from the traditional library management courses to the application of related technologies for the provision of information and services in the libraries and information centres.

Objective of the Programme:

  • To enable Bachelor’s degree holders to further their knowledge and skills necessary for the administration of libraries and the information centers in the current future scenario.
  • To equip graduates with analytical thinking skills needed for managerial and leadership roles in information management and information management and information utilization for strategic planning and decision-making, benefiting libraries and parent organizations.
  • To enhance knowledge and skills among professional librarians, enabling them to play a more dynamic role in the advancement of library development and building an information rich society.

Mode and duration:

Full Time: 1½ years (3 semesters) minimum to 2 years (4 semesters) maximum
Part Time: 2 years (4 semesters) minimum to 4 years (8 semesters) maximum
RM 150.00 (Per-Credit Hour)

Total 40 Credit Hour

Entry Requirements:
A Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in related field of study from UiTM and other institution of higher learning, local or abroad, recognized by the UiTM Senate with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 OR

A Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in a related field of study from other institution of higher learning, local or abroad, recognized by the UiTM Senate with a minimum of CGPA of 2.50 AND at least 5 years of related working experience OR

Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in any relevant fields and recognized by the UiTM Senate will be considered for admission.

Candidates are also required to attend an interview.

Candidates must have strong English language proficiency according to the requirement of the University.

This programme requires students to complete a minimum of 40 credit hours. It is designed for two categories of students i.e., Track 1 (for students with Library Science/Information Studies background) and Track 2 (for students without Library Science/Information Studies background). Students are required to complete a minimum of 40 credit hours i.e. 34 credit hours (10 courses) from the CORE courses, and 6 credit hours (2 courses) from the ELECTIVE courses.
