Dean's Message

The Faculty of Information Management was founded in the mid 1960s as the School of Library Science. After more than five decades of existence, the faculty remains a pioneer in Malaysia in the production of graduates in the field of information science, which includes library science, information management, knowledge management, records & archives, and information systems management.

The faculty is home to researchers who specialise in various subjects of information science. They have worked on a number of consulting projects that have been granted by businesses and government bodies. Their study findings are published in journals and research papers. The findings of their study are well integrated into academic programmes at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students pursuing academic programmes in this faculty are fortunate in that they can benefit not only from the exceptional and dedicated lecturers, but also from the infrastructure that provides a very conducive and engaging learning experience.

The faculty is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a technology-enabled classroom, an e-learning application, an experimental library, preservation laboratories, and other general computing resources. These infrastructures, together with curriculum contents that are constantly updated and relevant to market need, will ensure that graduates are job-ready and highly sought after by prospective employers. Today, alumni of this faculty not only hold senior management positions in a wide range of libraries and information-related organisations, but they also make up a significant portion of the workforce in this field of study.
