Faculty of Information Management, UiTM, takes pride in being the pioneer in providing professional education to fulfil the manpower need of the country in three very important fields, namely: Information Management, Library Management, and Records Management. Our academic programmes, supplemented by industry attachments, equip graduates with knowledge and skills to take on the challenging demands of managing information in various forms and in various types of organisations. Our graduates become the main driving force for the development of a knowledge-based society, transforming Malaysia into a developed nation, ensuring that the country’s rich reservoirs of knowledge are systematically organised, maintained and enhanced for optimum value. To achieve this aim, the programmes consist of the blended components from four main areas: Information Technologies, Professional and Technical Aspects of Information and Records Management, Public Relations, and Users’ Needs and Services. |

Academic Visit to Hong Kong Libraries |

 The faculty, initiated by our Master of Science Library Science (IM772) students, had organized an academic visit to Hong Kong Libraries on 12-16 July 2011. Fifteen participants went on this trip; consisted of twelve students, accompanied by two lecturers, Assoc. Prof. Fuziah Mohd Nazar and Dr. Dang Merduwati Hashim, and an administration staff, Noraini Abu Hassan.

 Congratulations to our young inventors from the Faculty who just won Silver Medal in the 2011 International Invention Expo and Conference Institute of Higher Learning (PECIPTA 2011). The competition that was held on 13-15 September 2011 was organized by the Universiti Teknologi MARA and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

Professor Szarina's article has been voted among “LIRT’s Top Twenty” library instruction articles of 2010. The LIRT committee of the American Library Association read and evaluated over two hundred articles published in 2010 as part of the selection process. Professor Szarina's article, “Measuring the Outcomes of Information Literacy: Perception vs. Evidence-Based Data,” published in the International Information and Library Review, Vol. 42 issue 2 (June 2010), pp. 98-104, exemplified LIRT's criteria of quality writing, useful research, and stimulating ideas.
